Siblings reunited in Belgium
Our next chapter of seeing family took us to Belgium, where my sister, brother-in-law, and nephew were on a vacation of their own. We crashed the latter half of their trip -- since Alix and I aren't going back to America for a year, if someone we love is abroad, we better make it count!
Belgium is a great place if you love beer, charming European cities, and are a baby. I wouldn't have known that last part unless we traveled with possibly the best two year old traveler I've ever met. This is a big year for all of us in different ways, and I'm thankful we got to form these memories together in May.
We started in Antwerp together, and spent our days seeing the sights, walking through parks and museums, and tasting good local food and drink. It's a city that feels comfortable yet lively: enough to explore without overwhelming, while still retaining that Belgian charm. Very livable, and a very nice setting for a little family reunion.

After Antwerp, we said goodbye to the family and continued our way through the country. Next stop was Bruges, which lived up to its reputation of a fairytale-esque dream. We loved the little streets, small canals, and how every tiny establishment feels like a hidden gem preserved over centuries.
Last stop was Brussels. After exploring the city center for a day, we took a break outside the city for a couple days of rest. Feeling recharged, we were able to plan the next stage of our adventure: heading eastward through Europe by train over the next few months.
