Happy birthday to me!
How do you celebrate a special occasion during an already special year? In normal times, you go on vacation. In these times, I wanted to spend it at home.
"Home", in this case, means going to a city we love, renting an apartment, and doing things we love to do in cities without the pressure to be a completionist tourist.
Copenhagen for a week was just as wonderful as we remember it. The food, the parks, the architecture. It's all top notch and crafted to an impeccable standard.
We love walking around on a brisk but sunny day through the welcoming neighborhoods, on our way to a museum or a park, stopping inside a boutique shop or charming wine bar. It is a city that is understated yet exacting, as every time you sit down for what you think is a quick and casual bite, you are greeted with a surprise 4-course prefix menu in a space that looks like it's a finalist in an interior design magazine competition. The quality is inescapable.
I just really, really like this place, and feel lucky to go back. Onward to 34, and to another good year.
